In Elden Ring, farming runes becomes increasingly important as you push into the late game. While early-game rune sources offer a trickle of progress, high-level areas can deliver massive rewards—if you know where to look. Whether you're refining a new build or stocking up on essential Elden Ring items, having a solid rune income is key.

Here’s a list of 27 easy rune gains you can make in high-level areas, drawn from experience, testing, and countless deaths. Some involve light exploration, while others are repeatable farming spots. No major bosses required—just some smart navigation and timing.

1. Albinaurics at Mohgwyn Palace
A classic farming route. Just west of the Palace Approach Ledge-Road Site of Grace, the Albinaurics here offer thousands of runes per kill and are easily farmed with AoE attacks.

2. Somber Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone Knight (Haligtree)
Defeating this knight grants solid rune returns and valuable Elden Ring items, especially when buffed with Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot.

3. Consecrated Snowfield Duelists
Roaming duelists near the Consecrated Snowfield can be pulled one at a time and yield high rune payouts with manageable combat.

4. Wandering Nobles in Haligtree Town
Don’t underestimate these weak mobs. Grouped together and easily AoE’d, they offer surprising rune efficiency.

5. Night’s Cavalry in Forbidden Lands
These horseback enemies can be cheesed with terrain tricks and yield a massive rune haul for relatively low risk.

6. Haligtree Knights at Elphael Inner Wall
Tough but farmable, these knights drop a strong number of runes and give a chance at rare weapon drops.

7. Beastmen in Crumbling Farum Azula
Aggressive but staggerable, Beastmen are found in dense clusters and fall easily to wide attacks or magic.

8. Lesser Crucible Knights (Ashen Capital)
These enemies respawn and drop both runes and useful upgrade materials—perfect for late-game farming.

9. Twinblade Gargoyles (Outside Haligtree)
If you're confident in dodging heavy attacks, these optional enemies offer great rune rewards with no boss fog gate.

10. Farum Azula Dragon Kin
These dragonkin patrol certain bridges and can be pulled into falling off ledges or cheesed with ranged attacks for runes.

11. Erdtree Avatars (Consecrated Snowfield)
Though they're tough, these bosses can be approached with hit-and-run tactics. They drop thousands of runes and upgrade Elden Ring items.

12. Oracle Envoys (Haligtree Topside)
Grouped in tight clusters, they can be destroyed with one or two strong AoEs, making them a time-efficient farming target.

13. Cleanrot Knights (Elphael Drainage Channel)
Painful to fight but rich in rewards. With the right setup, you can dispatch them consistently.

14. Spiritcaller Snails (Spiritcaller Cave)
Sneaky enemies with huge rune payouts. Use Spirit Detection tools to hunt them down quickly.

15. Exploding Flame Chariots (Giants’ Mountaintop Catacombs)
Destroying them not only clears a dangerous path but grants a generous rune drop.

16. Invisible Black Knife Assassins (Ordina)
Once revealed, these enemies can be defeated for runes and gear. Learn their routes for efficient kills.

17. Red Wolf of the Champion (Crumbling Farum Azula)
A mini-boss with a fast kill potential for experienced players. Offers good rune returns with low respawn time.

18. Draconic Tree Sentinel (Leyndell)
Even after Leyndell changes, this variant remains available in the alternate timeline. A high-risk, high-reward enemy.

19. Farum Azula Banished Knights
Heavy hitters that drop both runes and smithing stones. Parry them or use frostbite to farm them efficiently.

20. Sanguine Nobles (Mohgwyn Dynasty)
Found near the Dynasty Mausoleum Entrance, these enemies give solid rune rewards and can be chain-killed with magic.

21. Marionette Soldiers (Haligtree Path)
Fast but weak enemies that appear in groups. Easy to kill and excellent for rune stacking over time.

22. Godskin Duo Arena Respawns
Once the bosses are cleared, the arena refills with enemies in NG+. Farming here with AoE can yield thousands of runes quickly.

23. Stormhawk Enemies (Farum Azula)
These aggressive birds can be grouped and blasted. Risky, but they give high rune payouts.

24. Trolls Near Giant-Conquering Hero’s Grave
These trolls can be led into each other’s attacks or off cliffs, making them easy to kill and rewarding.

25. Sniping Cleanrot Knights with Bow
At range, these dangerous enemies can be handled with precision bow shots and terrain advantages.

26. Invisible Scarabs (Late Game Zones)
Invisible but audible, these beetles offer runes and upgrade materials. Easy to miss, but rewarding when farmed.

27. U4GM-Inspired Community Routes
Many players in the community refer to platforms like U4GM to identify farming strategies that prioritize safety and speed. While not officially documented in-game, shared community knowledge helps uncover overlooked spots.

Farming Elden Ring Runes in high-level areas doesn’t have to be repetitive or punishing. With the right weapon, area knowledge, and buffs, you can turn late-game enemies into reliable rune banks. And when your inventory’s full of Elden Ring items waiting to be upgraded, that extra rune flow makes all the difference.
